Tishman Speyer
lays foundation stone
for OMNITURM

First ever vertically-integrated, mixed-used office and residential tower in Frankfurt's business district

Tishman Speyer, one of the world’s leading developers, owners, operators and asset managers of first-class real estate, today laid the foundation stone for the OMNITURM mixed-use development, which will be the latest addition to Frankfurt’s skyline. Located in the heart of Frankfurt’s business district, the 45-story, 54,100-square-metres tower is scheduled to be delivered by the start of 2019.

In the presence of 400 invited guests, Boris Rhein, Hessen State Minister for Higher Education, Research and the Arts, Mike Josef, Head of Frankfurt’s Planning Department, and architect Bjarke Ingels, joined Rob Speyer, CEO of Tishman Speyer, in laying the foundation stone for the project.

Boris Rhein, Minister of Science and Art, said: “With this new project, the city of Frankfurt will see the rise of a vibrant center, where creative office and co-working spaces meet innovative residential areas, embodying the unique character of Frankfurt, in a tower that is both classical and sculptural.”

Mike Josef, Head of Planning Department, emphasizing the entrepreneurial vision of Tishman Speyer, commented: “OMNITURM integrates a new urban space for work, life and vibrant public uses into the existing fabric of the city to further grow the appeal of the downtown area. In addition, the project is part of the high-rise development plan as well as the local zoning plan for the banking district.”

Rob Speyer, CEO of Tishman Speyer, said: “We continue to pursue a strategy of developing and owning premier properties in world-class cities, and this project is a perfect example of that strategy in action. OMNITURM underscores our confidence in the long-term strength of the German market and the opportunities to develop innovative and unique mixed-use projects that genuinely enhance the country’s urban landscape.”

Bjarke Ingels, Founding Partner of BIG, commented: “By gently shifting the floor plates of the simple elegant volume the tower incorporates all the elements of a real city: spaces for living and working, inside as well as outside. The result is a striking new silhouette on Frankfurt's skyline that looks different purely because it performs differently. The shift at the hip will be a sign that new life has infiltrated the cluster of corporate headquarters in downtown Frankfurt.”

Florian Reiff, Senior Managing Director and Head of Germany for Tishman Speyer, said: “OMNITURM represents the new Frankfurt, an increasingly open and international city that is expanding its leading role as the financial capital of Continental Europe. This project satisfies Frankfurt’s growing demand for mixed-used urban structures that are not only architecturally superior, but also enhance the city life in our banking district.”

For Tishman Speyer, OMNITURM represents the latest example of a series of successful development initiatives in Frankfurt, which has included the MesseTurm, OpernTurm, TaunusTurm and Deutsche Bank Campus projects.
